Girls Weekend Road Trip from Lafayette to Orange Beach | Travel Recap & Essentials

Girls Weekend Getaway: Lafayette to Orange Beach Road Trip Recap

How 17 Girls, One Beach Condo, and a Pink Moon Made for the Ultimate Weekend Escape

Sometimes, all you need is a beach, good food, and great friends. Recently, I went on a quick weekend road trip from Lafayette, Louisiana to Orange Beach, Alabama—and it was exactly the soul-refreshing escape I needed. With 17 women sharing one luxury condo, sunshine, laughter, and dance parties, this trip was a perfect reminder of how travel builds unforgettable memories.

Whether you’re planning a girls trip to Orange Beach, a weekend escape from Louisiana, or just love a well-organized beach getaway, I’m sharing the highlights of my adventure and a few favorite travel essentials to help you prep for your next trip.

The Road to Orange Beach (+ Buc-ee’s, of course)

I hit the road from Lafayette late Friday evening, but no road trip from Louisiana to Alabama is complete without a stop at Buc-ee’s. If you’ve never been, it’s a must. Think endless snacks, quirky merch, and the cleanest bathrooms ever. I stocked up on drinks and snacks for the beach and headed to our condo at Phoenix Orange Beach.

When I arrived, most of the girls were winding down with homemade lasagna (how lucky was I?). The energy was calm and cozy—perfect after a long drive.

Saturday Beach Vibes

Saturday morning started with the aroma of breakfast being cooked by some of the girls in our bright, open floor plan condo. The space was stunning—4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and plenty of room for all 17 of us.

We packed up our bags, grabbed our snacks and drinks, and headed down to the Orange Beach shoreline. The weather was absolutely perfect—clear skies, sunshine, and a salty breeze. We set up beach tents, chatted with the super friendly beach attendant, and just enjoyed being present with each other.

We spent the morning soaking up the sun, laughing, and of course—taking tons of photos so we’d never forget it.

Beach Essentials We Loved:

Back at the condo, some of the girls whipped up delicious homemade enchiladas for lunch. I happily grabbed a plate and ate, found a sunny spot in the common area, and took a much-needed nap while everyone else headed back to the beach.

A Glow Party + A Full Pink Moon

Saturday night was one of the most fun group activities I’ve experienced in a while—we turned the condo into a blacklight glow party! Everyone wore reflective outfits that lit up the room, and we danced like we were at a club… but in cozy condo comfort.

Before the night ended, we all headed back down to the beach—to take photos under the stars and the beautiful full pink moon. It was the perfect backdrop to an already magical day.

Farewell & Final Buc-ee’s Stop

Sunday morning came too fast. I said my goodbyes around lunchtime and headed home, but not without one last Buc-ee’s stop for iced coffee and souvenirs.

Final Thoughts: Plan Your Own Girls Trip

This girls weekend reminded me just how important it is to step away, recharge, and reconnect. Orange Beach was the perfect destination for a group getaway: affordable, beautiful, and just a few hours from home. Whether you’re road tripping with friends or family, I’d absolutely recommend Phoenix Orange Beach as your base.
